Good morning to the best community in the country!
Here’s a quote from this past Monday’s edition of Good Morning, Summerville:
“I don’t think it’s a matter of opinion anymore to say that we have the best community in the country. Not just the state — I’m talking the country.”
After last weekend’s cancelled Italian Feast, Summerville once again showed why that statement rings true. More than 100 vendors had spent days preparing food and goods for the festival, and when the event was called off at the last minute (thanks to weather beyond anyone’s control), our community didn’t hesitate. Locals — many of you included — braved the rain, visited vendors across town, and bought up thousands of cookies, cakes, and pans of pasta to show your support.
The moral of the story? Summerville shows up. 💛
We’re so proud to be part of a community that rallies together, supports its small businesses, and turns setbacks into something truly special. We can’t wait for the rescheduled Italian Feast — but until then, keep spreading that incredible local love.

TOGETHER WITH
Katie’s Krops

For 15 years, Katie’s Krops has been nourishing the Lowcountry — not just with food, but with love and community. What began when founder Katie Stagliano was just 12 years old and wanted to feed her neighbors has blossomed into a powerful movement that grows fresh produce and serves free garden-to-table dinners to anyone in need of a warm meal.
Each month, volunteers come together to prepare and serve these dinners at Summerville Baptist Church, creating an evening filled with connection, compassion, and care. These meals aren’t just food — they’re a reminder that no one in our community is alone.
This October, Katie’s Krops is celebrating 15 years of service with their $15 for 15 Campaign. A $15 donation feeds seven people, helping continue this mission of growing food and growing hope. You can give at katieskrops.charityproud.org.
If you’d like to help in a hands-on way, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved — and to get your kids involved, too! Families can bring half gallons of milk or individually wrapped baked goods to the church on dinner days, simple but meaningful ways to contribute.
To learn about upcoming volunteer opportunities at the garden and beyond, you can sign up for their volunteer email list at katieskrops.com/volunteer.
Together, let’s celebrate 15 years of feeding hearts and bellies — and help plant the seeds for the next 15 years of kindness! 💚

Stones Throw Brewing

Pantry Board from Stones Throw Brewing
If you’re looking for a spot where the whole family (kids included) can relax, eat well, and enjoy a great local atmosphere, Stones Throw Brewing in Goose Creek should definitely be on your list. This locally loved brewery blends laid-back Lowcountry charm with a diverse menu — and it’s quickly become one of Goose Creek’s go-to gathering places.
While it’s well-known for its craft beers — brewed right on-site — Stones Throw goes above and beyond being just a brewery. The atmosphere is warm, casual, and family-friendly, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, live music, and community events throughout the month. On weekends, the outdoor patio often turns into a relaxed family hangout, where parents sip drinks while kids play yard games or enjoy a snack from the kitchen. Dogs are welcome on the patio, too, making it a great spot for the whole crew.
Their main menu hits that perfect balance of approachable and creative — think soft pretzels with beer mustard, street tacos, country fried steak, and house burgers that are every bit as good as the beer. But one of the best times to visit might just be Sunday brunch. Stones Throw’s brunch menu is packed with favorites that pair perfectly with a lazy weekend morning. You’ll find options like breakfast burritos, shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, and even brunch burgers — plus craft cocktails and mimosas. It’s a low-key, delicious way to wrap up the weekend (and let the kids burn off some energy while you relax).
Whether you’re stopping in for a casual dinner, a weekend brunch, or one of their fun community events, Stones Throw Brewing offers that rare blend of great food, craft drinks, and genuine local hospitality — all in one family-friendly package.

PALMETTO PIECE
Start the Season of Giving
Let’s be real — October (and the holidays that follow) can easily pull us into a consumer-focused mindset. Kids get caught up in counting how much candy they’ll collect and which houses give out the “good stuff.” Christmas lists start forming, schedules fill up, and before we know it, the last three months of the year can feel all about us.
So what if we flipped the script a little this season? Here are two simple, local ways to help our families — and especially our kids — focus outward and give back during this special time of year.
🍬 Sweet Sharing:
If your kids love trick-or-treating but don’t need to keep every piece of candy, talk with them now about options for donating their stash. You can place candy in a local blessing box, gift it to a family who may not be able to go trick-or-treating this year, or donate to soldiers through local drop-offs. Small gestures like these can teach big lessons in generosity.
🎃 Reverse Trick-or-Treating at The Blake (Carnes Crossroads):
On Sunday, October 26th at 3pm, families are invited to visit The Blake assisted living facility for a heartwarming twist on trick-or-treating. Kids will dress up in their costumes, go door to door inside the community, and hand out candy to residents — brightening their day with smiles and laughter. It’s such a sweet way to bring joy to others. See more details here.
As the season unfolds, may we all find small ways to keep kindness and community at the heart of our celebrations!
Love,
The Berks 👨👩👦👦
