Some of my favorite things to do with my kids are the ones that check all the boxes: free, flexible, and easy to get in and out of. And during October, nothing beats piling in the car, putting on a spooky playlist, and driving around Mount Pleasant to see the incredible Halloween houses. Think of it as trick-or-treating with your eyes, minus the sugar crash!
This year, we've mapped out the perfect family-friendly Halloween Driving Tour with four can't-miss stops. Here's how to make the most of it:

1. Old Village – 605 Pitt St, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464
Kick off your night in the heart of Old Village with the famous "Skelly Show." At the corner of Pitt and Queen, you'll find a pirate-themed skeleton display complete with a full ship, skeleton dogs, and plenty of spooky surprises. Time your visit between 6:45–7:45pm for the full effect—it's basically a neighborhood light show!

2. Six Mile – 2757 Riffle Range Road
This is an incredible house that goes all out for Halloween. Every year the decorations are over-the-top, playful, and spooky which makes it a must-see stop. It looks like they have 50 or so ghosts hanging up between the giant skeletons and light up spooky scenes. Your kids will love taking in all the details as you slow down and admire the scene.

3. Ivy Hall – 3241 Morningdale Dr, Mt Pleasant, SC 29466
This is a Mount Pleasant legend and for good reason. Of all the houses this has to be my favorite. Homeowner Kelly Frazier Miller spends months hand-making props for her display, creating a yard full of giant spooky characters, purple lights, and the iconic "Mount UNPleasant" sign. The attention to detail makes this one a family favorite year after year. Check out her youtube page with how she makes all her decorations!
💡 Parent Pit Stop: Just 2 minutes away, swing by Chick-fil-A (1024 Johnnie Dodds Blvd) for a quick bathroom break or drive-thru snack before heading to your grand finale.
If the kids still have energy (or you want to bribe them into silence for the ride home), stop for dessert at Ye Ole Fashioned Ice Cream & Sandwich Café or Marble Slab Creamery. Both are local favorites and the perfect way to wrap up a night of spooky fun.
