Summer break is here, and if you're looking for a way to fill a weekday morning without spending much, this one is hard to beat.
Regal's Summer Movie Express is back, and this year they made a notable change: instead of just two days a week, you can catch $1 movies Monday through Thursday at 11am from June 1 through August 13. That's four chances each week to get your kids into an air-conditioned theater for cheap. Every single title is a family film, and the lineup this summer is strong.
On top of the $1 admission, all Summer Movie Express attendees get $3 off a Snack Pack which includes a junior-sized drink, popcorn, and fruit gummies and/or a cup of Dippin' Dots. So you're walking out of a movie theater without breaking the bank, which as a parent feels borderline miraculous.
Here's the full schedule so you can plan ahead:
June 1–4: Sing and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem
June 8–11: Kung Fu Panda 4 and David
June 15–18: KPop Demon Hunters: A Sing-Along Event and The Wild Robot
June 22–25: The Bad Guys 2 and The Garfield Movie
June 29–July 2: A Minecraft Movie and Sonic the Hedgehog 2
July 6–9: Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and How to Train Your Dragon (Live Action)
July 13–16: Scoob!
July 20–23: Animal Farm and The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants
July 27–30: Dog Man and Paddington in Peru
August 3–6: Charlie the Wonderdog and Despicable Me 4
August 10–13: The Sandlot and Muppet Treasure Island
One thing worth knowing from personal experience: buy your tickets ahead of time. It's easy to think of a $1 movie as a casual drop-in, but these shows fill up. We went without pre-purchasing and our group had to split up because there weren't enough seats together. Having four showings per week does give you more flexibility than in past years, but if you're coming with a group or just want to guarantee you're sitting together, grab tickets online before you go.
