Spring in Summerville is filled with some great opportunities to enjoy live music as a family. If thatβs something you enjoy, hereβs some great opportunities this week and next. Check the linked pages in case there are any updates due to weather!
Tonight: Nexton Nights at Nexton Square
If you're reading this Friday morning, save it for tonight. Nexton Nights is back for the season kicking off tonight, May 1st, starting at 5pm at Nexton Square. The series runs the first Friday of May and June, and this month's performer is Forty Mile Detour. It's a free, outdoor evening right in the middle of Nexton Square's restaurants and shops, which means you can grab dinner from any of the spots there, let the kids spread out, and stay as long as the night lasts. June's show will feature The Classic Country Project.
Next Friday: Sounds on the Square Downtown
On May 8th, the Town of Summerville's Sounds on the Square series brings Vinyl Daze to Hutchinson Square for a free community concert from 7β9pm. Food trucks will be on-site, and the town asks everyone to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. The April show drew a big crowd and this one will too β Vinyl Daze is a fun, high-energy band that plays well to a mixed-age crowd. Get there a little early to stake out a good spot on the lawn and grab food before the line builds.
These two events basically bookend the next week and a half, which is a pretty nice problem to have. Neither one costs anything, both are genuinely family-friendly, and both put you outside on a warm spring evening in Summerville.
