We ended up at Mi Fiesta after a trip out to Carnes Crossroads area, and the boys loved it before we even sat down. The walls are covered in murals of jungle animals, and parts of them glow. Both boys spent the first few minutes of the meal turning in their seats to find the next one. It's not one of those restaurants where the decor is doing so much you can't hear each other. It's just enough to keep little kids occupied while you look at a menu, which as far as we're concerned is a huge win!

The food hit the spot. I got an avocado salad and an order of the Mini Sopesitos ($6.95) — fried masa cakes topped with beans, tomatillo sauce, queso fresco, and avocado — and both were excellent. Daniel got the al pastor tacos ($4.50 each, or three with rice and beans), and the boys had kids' meal enchiladas. Every kids' plate is $8.95, and they'll do chicken fingers, a corn dog, or a cheese quesadilla if they like something simpler.

Service was fast and friendly, which counts for a lot when you're forty minutes into dinner with a two-year-old. If we lived out that way, this would be our go-to Mexican spot!

A few things worth knowing before you go: kids eat free on Sundays with the purchase of an adult entrée, dine-in only. Lunch specials run Monday through Saturday from 11am to 2pm and are the cheapest way in, since most dinner entrées land between $16 and $22, although we kept it reasonably priced even going for dinner.

Mi Fiesta is at 2007 2nd Ave, Suite D, open 11am to 10pm Monday through Saturday and 11am to 9pm on Sunday. If you go looking for it online, it comes up as "Mi Fiesta Tacos & Tequila-Goose Creek," since it’s right on that Summerville/Goose Creek border.
